TPO Education
TPO in Schools
We are strong believers in investing in even the youngest artists in our community! Our education program reaches students from 2nd to 12th grade across the Middle Tennessee area.
- STEAM programs focus on vibration, sound production, soundwaves, pitch, and volume along with a musical performance. These elements correlate with the TN Academic Standards for Science.
- The instrument petting zoo is a “hands on” experience where students can not only play the instruments, but where they can also examine the construction of the instruments and feel vibrations.
- The TPO has sent woodwind and string quartets to 21 City and County schools, 3 homeschools, Linebaugh Library, and Discovery Center along with Creekside Assisted Living Community.
- The TPO will continue to offer these live music experiences to the students of Rutherford County next school year.
Petting Zoo
Introducing the TPO Petting Zoo! This fun activity is a hit among our elementary school students!
The TPO Petting Zoo lets students get up-close and personal with instruments! Here’s where you come in…we need more instruments to add to the zoo! If you have an instrument lying around that you no longer use, consider donating it to the TPO Petting Zoo! No matter the condition of your instrument, we would be more than happy to take your donation.
In School Participation
Whether its youth concerts in our local schools or Masterclasses reaching over 30,000 students in the school system, the TPO prides itself on going into the schools and working with the students first-hand.
Richard Siegel Music Excellence Award
This award is presented to public school students in the 6th to 12th grades who have been nominated by their schools for their outstanding musical excellence as well as citizenship. Each year the TPO awards over 200 students with this high honor.
