About TPO
World Class Musicians in Murfreesboro
The Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) was founded in 1981 by esteemed conductor and musician, Dr. Laurence Harvin. Originally known as the University Community Ensemble, the TPO has grown substantially in size, diversity, and in the scope of its audience, now serving the entire Middle Tennessee region.
Throughout the ensemble’s many successful years, it has had the privilege to perform with such prestigious musicians as Angela Cheng, Boots Randolph, and Chris Young, among others.
In recent years, the TPO has created education programs celebrating students and has increased its community outreach to include performances at the Stones River Battlefield, outdoor appearances at the Fountains, Cannonsburgh Village, Murfreesboro City Square, City Plaza, Farmer’s Market, and multiple other local venues.
The Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to be fully professional and operating in the black.
